Beta Ziraat ve Ticaret A.S. is Türkiye’s first seed company established in 1961.

Our company, whose examples could count on the fingers of one hand even in the world in the years it was founded, and whose job is to deal only with seeds, is the work of a great vision.

Our company, which has always been the pioneer of new grounds by laying the cornerstones of Turkish seed production since the day it was founded, has continued its service without making any concessions on its quality policy in international norms, taken it as a duty to serve Turkish seed production responsibly and strived for its development for more than half a century with the innovations and product variety it has brought. This mission undertaken by Beta Ziraat is a natural result of the partnership structure.

Our company, which owns 99% of its shares by institutions such as Konya Seker, Konya Beet Producers Cooperative, Kayseri Seker, Amasya Seker, Pankobirlik and other beet producers cooperatives, each of which is a farmer organization, derives its power from Turkish farmers.

OIL FACTORY

Oil Factory, included in Beta Ziraat ve Ticaret A.S., is a smart facility that started production in 2012 and has a high-tech machinery and equipment park and fully automatic PLC automation. With its high product quality, it has an annual production capacity of 150 thousand tons of sunflower, 100 thousand tons of soybean and canola, approximately 66 thousand tons of raw sunflower oil and approximately 80 thousand tons of sunflower pulp.

With Konya Seker’s announcement that it would establish a raw oil facility, interest in oilseed agriculture has increased in the Konya region. Oil sunflower production, which was around 50 thousand tons in 2010, increased to 99 thousand tons in 2011 when the factory was announced to be built, and it was 211 thousand tons in 2012 when the foundation of the factory was laid and it came into operation. Konya was the province with the highest sunflower oil production in Türkiye in 2012. With the production of 260 thousand tons in 2013 and 2014, Konya maintained its leadership position as a province with the highest sunflower oil production in these years. With the production of 210 thousand tons as given in the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data for 2015 and 2016, Konya maintained its place in the top ranks in sunflower oil production. For our country, which meets more than half of its oil and oilseed needs through imports, this increase in production is extremely important for both our country’s economy and the regional farmers.

This investment has served to expand the oilseed cultivation areas and increased oilseed production by using high yielding varieties in the Konya region. It has been ensured that the oil seeds produced or to be produced in Konya and Aksaray regions, where sunflower production has started to become widespread, are brought into the regional economy, and thus, extra added value is created. With the production of 300-350 thousand tons of seed production in 1 million decares of land in the Central Anatolia production basin, 40-45 thousand farmers are offered the opportunity to get a market share of 325-350 million TL. Thanks to this investment, the problem of farmers who were worried about safe sales channels has been solved. Oil seeds, as an alternative product, have become a product that the farmers can plant alternately and have brought economic development. The farmers in Konya and other provinces have gained an investment that they can produce and sell more confidently. The needs of Konya, which meet most of the raw oil needs from outside the province, and the refinery oil factories established in the region are also provided by this modern facility.

Raw Oil Factory has given importance to product quality since its establishment and has registered its quality. Our factory has TS EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality System Certificate, TS 12302 Raw Sunflower Oil Product Conformity Certificate and TS 316 Sunflower Seed Pulp Product Conformity Certificate.

Furthermore, Raw Oil Factory stands out with its R&D activities. The project titled “Obtainment of Tocopherol and Sterol from Deodorization Residues Emerging during Sunflower Oil Refinement” was accepted by TÜBİTAK with a great support rate within the scope of 1511. With this project, Konya Seker aims to pioneer in obtaining valuable products suitable for the country’s interests.
